This year marks the 10th anniversary of the long-term HAAS project at the National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine.
On October 2, 2008, the opening ceremony of the first in Ukraine HAAS Technical Training Center (HTEC) at the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology of the National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine took place. It was created in collaboration with HAAS Automation Inc., the largest machine tool company and its regional partner, Abplanalp Ukraine. The opening was attended by officials: HAAS Europe managing director Peter Hall, Abplanalp president E. Henke, general director of the Abplanalp Ukraine subsidiary N.V. Skrypnyk, rector of NMetAU A.G. Velichko, Vice-Rector of NMetAU V.I. Shatoh, head. Department of TM NMetAU A.E. Provolotsky.
The program of the created HAAS technical training center allows students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology to undergo technical training in working on high-tech CNC machines and master production technologies in a creative and exciting atmosphere. Education at the HAAS Technical Center provides students with the opportunity to learn that modern production provides ample opportunities for professional growth in the field of high technologies, which are used in a wide variety of industries.
Over the years of cooperation, experience and approaches have been developed to teach engineering students how to process CNC machines and develop control programs for these machines. Specialists of high-tech enterprises of our city (Yuzhnoye Design Bureau named after Yangel, PA Yuzhniy Machine-Building Plant named after Makarov, Dnepropetrovsk Aggregate Works, etc.) gave a high assessment to the graduates of the department. The success of the joint work of the department and the center was confirmed by the fact that the 1st place in the correspondence (on-line) round of the 2nd stage of the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad and the winner of the full-time round of the 2nd stage of the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad in the discipline "Programming processing on machine tools with numerical programmed control" held in The National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" became a student of the department Dmitry Prokhorenko.
On the basis of the HAAS Technical Training Center, Masters from the UK at Cranfield University completed an internship.
As part of the International Exhibition of Industrial Equipment and Metalworking "Mashprom" in the National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine at the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology, since 2013, scientific seminars have been held on the topic "Modern processing methods and equipment in mechanical engineering. More than 400 people, specialists from 9 enterprises of Dnepropetrovsk and the region, Melitopol, Zaporizhzhia region, Kremenchug, Komsomolsk, Poltava region, Kiev, as well as students and teachers of the Dnepropetrovsk national University staff members of the Institute of Geotechnical Mechanics, the National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine and the Dnipropetrovsk College of Rocket and Space Engineering. Employees of the company Abplanalp Ukraine take an active part in the work of these seminars. They not only make presentations, but also conduct master classes on HAAS multi-purpose CNC machines.
The cooperation of the Department of Mechanical Engineering with the company Abplanalp Ukraine, to ensure the fruitful work of the HAAS Technical Training Center, allows you to train new-generation specialists who are able to ensure the successful operation of enterprises in a rapidly changing market environment and taking into account the growing environmental requirements.
